An evening you might recognise

It isn't one bad day. It's every day.

  1. Nursery says they've been lovely all day. Five minutes after pickup, they're screaming.

  2. You sit down to feed the baby. A toy flies past the baby’s head.

  3. They push the bouncer. You hear yourself shout.

  4. Bedtime starts.

  5. Bedtime is still going. You’re reading this.

You've tried one-to-one time. Sticker charts. Taking things away. “Be gentle.” Everyone tells you it gets easier. Nobody tells you what to do tonight.

It's too late to prepare. Here's what to do now.

Every other guide is about getting your toddler ready before the baby arrives. This one is for when that moment has passed, and it has already gone wrong. It doesn't ask your toddler to love the baby. It gives them proof that their place is safe, and it gives you calm, specific words for the hardest moments.

Try it tonight

Tap what's happening. Get the words.

This is how Say This Now works: find the moment, read the script, put the phone down.

Script 1 of 20

Hits or pushes the baby

  • “I won't let you hit.”
  • “You're angry the baby is here. That's allowed. Hitting isn't.”
  • “Show me how angry. Stamp your feet with me.”

Do this

  • Move your body between them first. Words come second.
  • Catch or block the hand calmly, and move the baby out of reach.
  • Say the script once, then stop talking. Stay close.
  • Later, when everyone is calm, check the baby without a show of alarm.

Avoid this

  • Shouting "Be gentle!" from across the room. It names what you want but doesn't stop the hand.
  • Demanding "Say sorry" or a kiss right now.
  • A long lecture about how small and fragile the baby is.

Why it works: In the moment, your toddler's thinking brain is offline. Short, calm and physical works better than long and verbal. You stop the action and accept the feeling, so there's nothing to fight against.

These are 3 of the 20 scripts. They're yours to use tonight, whether you buy or not.

“We already tried one-to-one time”

It probably wasn't the idea that failed.

One-to-one time is good advice that's easy to do in a way that doesn't help. A lovely afternoon is a surprise. What rebuilds a toddler's sense of security is something they can predict. Day 3 fixes the four details.

What usually happens

The occasional big outing

How often
When there is childcare. Maybe weekly.
How long
A whole afternoon out.
What it is called
Nothing in particular.
Who chooses
You plan a treat.

Day 3 of the plan

Your Ten Minutes

How often
Every day, same time. Never skipped.
How long
Ten minutes, on a visible timer.
What it is called
“Your Ten Minutes.” Theirs, by name.
Who chooses
They choose. You follow. Phone away.

Who's behind this

Plain, practical, and honest about what it is

The Big Sibling Reset is an independent guide for parents. Every script and every day of the plan is built on published guidance from:

  • NHS
  • American Academy of Pediatrics
  • CDC
  • ZERO TO THREE
  • NSPCC
  • NCT
  • healthdirect Australia

We're not doctors, psychologists or licensed professionals, and this isn't medical advice. It's a calm, specific plan for an ordinary but very hard stage. If you're worried about your child, or about yourself, the guide tells you when and how to talk to your doctor or health visitor.

Tomorrow can go a little differently.

Read Start Tonight in four minutes. Start day 1 in the morning. In two weeks, you'll have a plan that's yours, and the words for the hardest moments.

Questions

Before you buy

What ages is this for?

It's written for an older child aged roughly 2 to 4, and a baby from newborn to about 9 months. Many of the ideas still work outside that range, but the scripts are worded for toddlers.

My older child is 5. Will it work?

The principles (safe, predictable, calm and close) apply at 5 too, and Your Ten Minutes works well at that age. You'll want to adjust some of the words, because a 5-year-old can handle a little more conversation than a 2-year-old.

We have twins, or more than two children.

It works the same way. The toddler still needs proof that their place is safe. With twins, the feeding box and the room setup on day 1 matter even more.

I'm doing this alone. Is it realistic?

Yes. Every day is designed to take a few minutes, and the plan includes a solo-day plan (day 13) and a section on doing bedtime alone with both children. Where it mentions another adult, skip that part.

How do I get my files?

Straight after paying, your download links appear on screen. We email them to you at the same time, so you can download the files again any time from that email.

Save the PDFs to your phone or computer. No account or app needed.

Can I get a refund?

Because these are digital files you get straight away, we can't offer a refund once you've downloaded them. If a file won't open or something is wrong with your order, email us and we'll put it right. See the refund policy.

Is this medical advice?

No. It's general information for parents, built on published guidance. It isn't a diagnosis or a treatment, and we aren't licensed professionals.

When should I get professional help instead?

Talk to your doctor, health visitor or paediatrician if your toddler regularly hurts the baby despite close supervision, hurts themselves, loses skills (especially speech) and doesn't regain them, seems withdrawn rather than angry, or if you simply feel something is wrong. And if you're feeling low, anxious or full of rage most days, please talk to someone about you too. Chapter 9 of the guide covers this in full.
